Division C Tournament Updates
For your convenience, we’ve attached a compilation of our emails. Please let us know at scioly@cornell.edu if you have not been receiving emails from us as soon as possible!
October 13 - Build sign-up, parental release form, closing ceremony
Good afternoon coaches,
We hope you’re doing well! We’re nearly a month out from competition. Please review these important updates and notices regarding the competition.
Self Sign-Up
The self sign-up forms are now open. These forms will allow you to choose timeslots for builds/trial events and are first come, first served. Please choose timeslots by 11/6, a week before the competition; otherwise, we may not be able to guarantee you can compete in that event. Please put your team name and number(s) in the notes when you signup so we know what team you're signing up for!
The updated event schedule and team numbers have been attached to this email.
Parental Release Form
All students participating in the competition must have a release form signed by a parent or legal guardian. This year, we are taking electronic signatures through Google Forms, which can be found at this link. We hope that this will make the process much simpler and easier this year. We recommend you send this out to parents of competitors on the team. We are currently working on a system where coaches can check progress of the forms; this should be out in the next few days. These forms are due on 10/30. The PDF version of the form has also been attached in case you would prefer to use that, but it is not necessary as long as parents fill out the digital form.
Closing Ceremony
Our closing ceremony will take place from 6:30-8:30 PM on November 14th. If your team is planning on attending the ceremony in person, please fill out this form with the amount of people you are expecting by 10/30 so we can allocate seats accordingly. If you are not attending the ceremony in person, we will have a live stream that you can watch.
Payment Update
Due to some issues with our bank account, we will now be taking Zelle payments to the following number: +1 (516) 427-9152. Payment through check is unchanged and the invoice is attached. As a reminder, payments ($200 per team) are due on the 30th.

October 7 - Build Signs Up, Schedule, and Hotels Update
Good afternoon coaches,
We hope you’re having a great week! As the competition approaches, please review the following updates regarding build sign-ups, our modified schedule, rules, payments, forms, and hotels:
Build Sign Ups
We have worked hard to expand our tournament field to 72 teams, which resulted in a few team number updates. Please check the attached spreadsheet (updates are highlighted in blue) to confirm your team's assigned number.
Build event self-scheduling will open via SignUpGenius next Tuesday, October 13th, at 6:00 PM ET. The sign-up link will be emailed right when it goes live.
Schedule
We have made minor revisions to our schedule (attached):
Each block will accommodate 12 teams per event
All builds run from 8:00 am to 3:20 pm, excluding the lunch block
The only exception to the above is Wright Stuff, which will run from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Rules Clarification
All events will follow Regional rules, with one exception: Thermodynamics will use the New York State rules for the written test, while its build portion will remain under Regional rules.
Forms
Over the coming week, we will have more information regarding the required forms for your students to complete. We will be sure to share them with you once everything has been finalized on our end.
Payment
Once again, please note that our tournament fees of $200 per team are due October 30th. In case it’s lost, attached is our payment invoice and our Zelle ID is scioly-at-cornell-4. Thank you to the teams that have already submitted payment!
Hotels
Information regarding price and booking for our reserved hotel room blocks are attached.
If your team's travel plans have changed and you are no longer able to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer the spot to a team on our waitlist.

Setember 28 - Thermodynamics Rules, Ping Pong Parachute, Wright Stuff
Good afternoon coaches,
We hope you’re doing well! We’re excited to welcome you and your students to Ithaca in a few weeks. Ahead of the tournament, we wanted to give some competition updates regarding our rules, payment, schedule, and events.
Rules
We will follow regional rules for all events with the exception of Thermodynamics, which will run under New York State rules
Payment
Thank you to the teams who have paid so far; a reminder that you can pay our $200 tournament fees through Zelle or check by October 30th. If you plan to pay via Zelle (scioly-at-cornell-4), please do so after the end of this week as we sort out logistics with the account
Schedule
Tournament Format: We will follow the National block schedule. Attached to this email are the team numbers and event schedule
Trial Events: This year’s trial events are Write It Do It (WIDI), Ornithology, and Pokemon PSET
Self-Scheduling: The self-scheduling spreadsheet form for builds, and trial events slots will go live on October 14th via SignUpGenius, one month before the competition. We will email that link to you in the coming weeks
Events
Ping Pong Parachute: The event will be held in the Weill Hall Atrium, which measures approximately 36 ft by 25 ft. The clearance from the floor to the underside of the rafters is approximately 63 ft, with additional unmeasured clearance extending above the rafters.
Wright Stuff: The event will be held in the Groos Family Atrium inside Klarman Hall. The space measures approximately 36 ft by 72 ft. We recommend a maximum flight ceiling of 34 ft, as flights above this height risk striking obstacles or encountering air drafts. Additionally, while chairs will be cleared to the side, the tables cannot be moved. Consequently, a minimum of three timers will record each flight, stopping the clock the moment the plane descends to table height (29.5 inches above the floor)
In the coming weeks we’ll have more information on the tournament logistics, hotel information, forms, and more. In the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
