Competition Policies

General Event Policies:

  • Our tournament schedule follows the National Science Olympiad Tournament Schedule, as outlined in the official Science Olympiad Rules Manual.

  • As in past years, all events will follow Regional-Level Rules.

  • Violations of event rules (except those that result in tiering) may lead to disqualification.

  • Exams and answer keys will be released within a week after the tournament to teams that competed.

  • Late arrivals to an event block will not receive extra time.

Wristband Policies:

  • Wristbands are provided to teams at check-in. Wristbands must be worn at all times during events, including trial events.

  • Wristbands must be tightly secured and not loose or removable.

  • If a wristband is damaged or cannot be worn, report the issue immediately at the check-in desk.

  • Students without proper wristbands will not be permitted to compete.

Academic Integrity:

  • Students may only communicate with their event partner(s) during competition.

  • All students are expected to follow the instructions provided on their exams.

  • Spectators, including teammates, parents, and coaches are not allowed to communicate with students during their events.

  • Resources outside of those stated in the event rules are not permitted.

  • For events involving builds, all devices must be constructed by members of the competing team.

Arbitration/Appeals:

  • Arbitrations for all events may be filed at the main check-in desk.

  • For events involving builds, arbitration requests will not be accepted if the device has been removed from the event area. If you wish to file an arbitration, leave your device at the event station and notify a supervisor immediately.
